to break the habit of smoking and tobacco use in order to reduce morbidity
and mortality due to tobacco related diseases. BMHA recognizes that smoking-related
illnesses account for over 400,000 deaths each year and more than a quarter
of those deaths occur in smokers aged 35-64. One half of all smokers will
die of their habit, statistically each cigarette robs a regular smoker
of 5.5 minutes of life. BMHA additionally offers free 6 week cessation
classes, nicotine patch therapy, and ongoing support groups so that participants
become tobacco-free and healthier as a result of program participation.
